(Jr.) Project Engineer Research Hydromechanics

For our Research and Development department in Singapore we are searching for a (Junior) Project Engineer Research which is specialized in Hydromechanics/CFD. In this role, you work in cooperation with our Design and Proposal and Engineering departments. You are involved in several stadia of the design where analytical tools are used as well as CFD numerical analysis. This involves quantifying those properties influencing the ship performances for existing and new designs as well as analyzing, modifying and optimizing such designs.

Tasks & Responsibilities   

  • Technical advising in the area of ship hydrodynamics;
  • Developing new tools (within CFD) for the analysis of the ship performances;
  • Conducting (fundamental) background studies to innovate our current product range.

Profile 

  • PhD, Master or Bachelor degree, having graduated on a fluid mechanics or ship hydrodynamics subject;
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), preferably with Numeca FINE/Marine package in Linux environment;
  • Thorough understanding of fluid mechanics;
  • Advanced level in spoken and written English;
  • Analytical, goal oriented and able to work in a team and individually.

(Jr.) Project Engineer Research - Structural Analyses (FEA)

Summary

For our Research and Development department in Singapore we are searching for a (Junior) Project Engineer Research which is specialized in Structural Analysis with Advanced FEA. In this role, you work in cooperation with mainly our Research and Development teams and periodically with Design and Proposal and Engineering departments. You are involved in several stadia of the FEM process development and ensure correct FEM analysis of innovative simulations are made, with a strong understanding of the theorical background aspects and limitations, ensuring correct workflows when such simulations are applied into engineering/development processes. This involves exactly quantifying those properties influencing the FEM simulation quality for existing and new methodology, as well as supervising analyses of such applied knowledge.

Tasks & Responsibilities  

  • Technical advising/supervising in the area of Advanced  FEA/Structural Analysis;
  • Developing new tools (within FEA in static/dynamic and linear/non-linear domain) for the analysis of the ship performances;
  • Conducting (fundamental) background studies to innovate our current product range.

Profile 

  • PhD, Master or Bachelor degree, having graduated on a solid mechanics subject;
  • Extensive experience with Finite Element Analysis, preferably with Siemens NX Nastran / Adina
  • Thorough understanding of solid mechanics and numerical analysis of solid mechanics phenomena;
  • Advanced level in spoken and written English;
  • Analytical, goal oriented and able to work in a team and individually.

(Jr.) Project Engineer Research Noise and vibrations

Summary

For our Research and Development department in Singapore we are searching for a (Junior) Project Engineer Research which is specialized in Acoustic. In this role, you work in cooperation with our Design and Proposal and Engineering departments. You are involved in several stadia of the design where analytical tools are used as well as numerical analysis (SEA - Statistical Energy Analysis). This involves quantifying those properties influencing the ship acoustic behaviors for existing and new designs as well as analyzing, modifying and optimizing such designs.

Tasks & Responsibilities  

  • Technical advising in the area of ship acoustics.
  • Developing new tools (SEA) for the analysis of the ship acoustics.

Profile 

  • PhD, Master or Bachelor degree, having graduated on an acoustic related subject.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of acoustics, structure-borne and air-borne sound.
  • Preferably knowledge of Statistical Energy Analysis combined with Dynamic FEA.
  • Advanced level in spoken and written English.
  • Accurate, analytical, goal oriented and able to work both in team and individually.

Department Information

The Research Department provides specific technical support for the Product Groups (project / proposal and project / management departments), Engineering Services and affiliates in the fields of naval and mechanical engineering. Research undertakes specific studies for the development of ships by the Product Groups and to expand the knowledge base. This research can be divided into 5 categories, that is to say: Mechanical Systems, Noise and Vibrations, Ship Structures, Hydromechanics, Human Factors, E control systems.
