Flight Operations Manager (FOM) (Miri Office) - Closing Date: 4th June 2014
He/She will be responsible for commercial, efficient and safe management of operations of the AISB bases in Malaysia, to ensure that AWAN meet contractual and regulatory requirements.  The FOM is expected to manage the Malaysia operations by building and maintaining effective relationships with customers, partners and AWAN Helicopters, and ensure all parties meet service deliveries.
Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact between AISB and the Customer Aviation Leads.
  • Responsible for executing customer contracts, and ensure all terms and conditions as agreed to in customer contracts are met will full compliance.
  • Manage communication and effective delivery of information both internally and externally with special attention to safety, customer service, business’ development and personnel issues.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and business development within Malaysia.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to establish continuous improvement initiatives for the bases, personnel and customers.
  • Oversee the AISB HOD’s and base management staff in their roles and responsibilities, completing Balance Score Card/Performance Management on direct reports.
  • Manage and foster long-term learning and development of all staff including local employees and supporting rotational staff.
  • Support and improve nationalization plans and encourage and motivate national employees to develop their skills and abilities.
  • Implement the AISB Human Relations Policies for National staff in accordance with the prevailing Malaysian Labour Laws.
  • Manage and achieve KPI’s as agreed with the partners and the Customers.
  • Collaborate with required parties to maintain operational standards and controls for all helicopters, and ensure contractual obligations by service support companies are met.
  • Identify and implement changes required for revenue increases and execute total cost reduction opportunities in cooperation with customers.
  • Carry budget responsibility and accountability for local operation, and assist to ensure accuracy of billing between AISB, the Customers, and 3rd parties.
  • Explore opportunities to increase revenues with existing customers.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all the regulatory, customer and company requirements for health, safety, aviation and the environment in accordance with the SMS policies.
  • Ensure the policies are up to date and understood by all employees and related parties.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees, customers, passengers and visitors to the base through the appropriate allocation of resources, documenting procedures, and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that base personnel manage SQID and SMS in accordance with the laid down procedures.
  • Ensure Internal, Regulatory and Customer Audits are dealt with according to the SMS procedure, addressed and closed in a timely manner.
  • International travel may be required.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Qualified Pilot, Engineers or Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Economics, Management or Commerce and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years in the aviation industry with application to operations and resource management and customer service/marketing.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry, EMS and/or SAR strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain presence as a strong and respected leader.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain good working relationships with personnel, management and customers.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ability to quickly learn how to work with new applications as required.

Flight Safety and Quality Manager (FSQM) (Miri Office) - Closing Date: 4th June 2014
Reporting to the Safety and Quality Manager, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated group of flight safety professionals and acts as a principal adviser to the company on all aviation safety matters.
The FSQM is accountable for the planning, organization, administration and review of the company Flight Safety, Accident Prevention and Flight Data Monitoring programs and will deliver a high standard of safety and operational excellence, with a focus on promoting a Just Culture and supporting continuous improvement.
Working in collaboration with the management team, this role is a key interface between management, employees and customers and participates in ensuring that the daily flight operations are carried out in a safe, effective and professional manner, and in accordance with regulations, Company policies and customer requirements.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Promote safety as a core value in order to maintain a positive corporate safety culture
  • Advise the Safety and Quality Manager and relevant post holders on matters concerning safety and quality in all flight operations.
  • Provide leadership, guidelines and support on the development or improvements of the Company’s Flight Safety, Accident Prevention and Flight Data Monitoring Programs and, as applicable, Crisis management and emergency response preparedness capability.
  • Act as a liaison with other aircraft operators and relevant organizations, in an effort to maintain the highest level of awareness of Flight Safety within AISB.
  • Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory standards related to Flight Safety, Accident Prevention, FDM requirements
  • Ensures that internal flight safety audits are carried out according to an annual audit plan
  • Review re-occurring risk profiles and ensure hazard identification and risk assessments are carried out when needed so that Safety Cases can be reviewed and maintained up-to-date for flight operations
  • Make recommendations to correct/prevent identified safety issues and monitor corrective/preventative actions as necessary.
  • Monitor pertinent Occurrence Reports and analyze flight safety related trends to make recommendations for corrective and/or preventative
  • Investigate any matters related to Flight Safety including the investigation of accidents and incidents and bring any recommendations for remedial action to the attention of the Safety and Quality Manager
  • Supervise and/or Conduct incident and accident investigations when necessary
  • Collect, collate, edit and disseminate Flight Safety information for the promotion of Flight Safety awareness amongst all employees within the company.
  • Periodically review statistical analysis of aviation accident data as well as special data retrievals and analyses to support safety studies and incident/accident investigations.
  • Provide regular reports to management on Flight Safety and Accident Prevention Program status and compliance and communicate flight safety issues to all relevant stakeholders in flight operations and the company, including regular newsletters
  • Monitoring trends in reporting systems and industry research data/developments to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base within the company of Flight Safety practices, procedures and standards
  • Direct Flight Safety Officers (FSO) and administrative personnel in fulfilling all departmental administrative processing requirements.
  • Fulfill Flight Safety Officer (FSO) duties, as required
  • Perform flying duty on a relevant type helicopter as necessary to have a good working knowledge of all aspects of local operations 
Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants for this position must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements and be acceptable to the MDCA as a regulatory post holder. This may require an additional interview with the regulator.
  • The applicant must be a Malaysian National and be able to obtain foreign visas to travel internationally without restrictions;
  • Hold, or have held (must be able to renew), an MDCA ATPL-H License with instrument rating and be able to pass an MDCA Class 1 Medical. Equivalent foreign licenses will be considered for conversion.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of Flight Operations Experience in multi-engine, multi-crew, IFR operations. Less experience may be considered if candidates bring added value to the safety function through other qualifications and experience.
  • Sound working knowledge of Safety, Quality and Risk Management Systems including ICAO and MCAR requirements.
  • Strong and proven skills in people management, Crew Resource Management, Fatigue Risk Management Systems, Safety Management Systems and Flight Operations Quality Assurance Systems.
  • Training and experience in Quality Auditing Principles and Systems
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Experience:
  • Current or previous Helideck Inspection experience (UK CAA Cap 437 or similar standards)
  • Prior management experience in a Safety and Quality Function

Description and Requirements
  • Malaysian citizen, age between 18 to 26 years old (as at date of application)
  • Pass SPM or its equivalent qualification recognized by Malaysian Government with six (6) credits including Bahasa Malaysia and a minimum of B4 in Mathematics, Physics and English taken in one sitting, or
  • Possess Diploma / Degree with minimum CGPA 3.0 or above with six (6) credits with pass in Bahasa Malaysia in SPM taken in one sitting.
  • Excellent command of Bahasa Malaysia and English both written and spoken. Must pass TOEFL with a minimum score of 650.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit with good eyesight (visual acuity of at least 6/60 without optical aid, correctable to 6/6) and not colour blind.
  • Minimum height 163 cm (5ft 4in).
  • The successful candidates will be given training allowance of RM3,000.00 per month.
  • Guaranteed employment after successful completion of the training.
